New Big Ass Video at YouTube: 1990s TV commercials
Check 'em out:
- 1987 Pepsi commercial featuring Gloria Estefan's "Conga" -- a minute-long Spanish version of this was already on YouTube, but I dug up the English one
- 1987 "Wild Thing" ad for Seagram's Wild Berry Vodka Cooler -- man, I remember drinking a lot of these in first-year university, particularly one night when Moxy Fruvous played at the school pub
- 1993 ad for The Brick furniture company in Toronto -- "Don't pay until 1994!" ... I wonder how many people are still carrying debt from that promotion
- 1992 ad for Kellogg's Raisin Bran -- they recently resurrected one of the old ads in this series, with the lumberjack. This one has an astronaut who interrupts his rocket's countdown to grab two scoops of raisins
- 1993 ad for Pizza Hut Canada's All You Can Eat Monday Madness -- all the pizza you can eat for five bucks? Man, I'd be all over that today
- 1993 ad for Mel Gibson's "Forever Young" -- does this movie even rank in Mel's best-of history?
- 1992 ad for Unitel Long Distance -- most kids today probably don't remember when long-distance was very expensive, since Bell had a monopoly on it. CNCP pushed to break up the monopoly, and Unitel was the result. It didn't work out so well for them
- 1993 ad for McDonald's -- this one's called "The Raise". The lead actor looks familiar -- is he a somebody?
- 1992 ad for Mazda 626 Cronos -- it was only called the Cronos in Canada
- 1993 ad for IBM OS/2 -- before Windows 95 came out, the graphical operating system was not all Microsoft's world. IBM took a shot at it too, with OS/2. Yeah, it failed
- 1992 ad for Contac C -- a midwinter ad for cold medicine
- 1993 ad for Pontiac Bonneville SE -- I don't know anything about cars
- 1993 ad for the film "Alive" -- I've never seen the TV show "Lost", but I've always assumed it's a ripoff of this movie. I know I'm wrong, but it's what I choose to believe
- 1992 ad for AGF Mutual Funds -- if you'd invested $100 in AGF mutual funds in 1992, you'd be rich right now. I know I'm wrong, but it's what I choose to believe. I should'be been investing back then
Check back later in the week when I'll present more of the clips I sliced, diced, and uploaded. Now get back to work!
